Solenoid Valves

Solenoid valves are used to control fluid in everyday tasks and extreme operations alike. Solenoid valves consist of a solenoid (a small electromagnetic coil) and a movable plunger that seals and unseals the valve. When an electric current passes through the solenoid, it exerts force on the plunger and opens or closes the valve. This design allows solenoid valves to be both highly responsive and operated remotely with a simple electrical switch. Given these advantages, it is easy to understand why solenoid valves are so popular when controlling flow in anything from simple air systems to high volume industrial applications.

For decades, ASCO solenoid valves have been the global industry standard for dependable, high performance solenoid valves. Now a part of automation solutions titan Emerson, ASCO produces over 50,000 premium fluid control valves and their solenoid valves are the crown jewels of their inventory. Affectionately nicknamed ‘red hats’ due to the bright red cap on the top of the valve, ASCO Red Hat solenoid valves are made with sturdy materials and often available in two-way, three-way and even four-way configurations. ASCO solenoid valves are built for longevity and success in a vast array of industrial applications. Popular fluid control uses for ASCO Red Hat valves include general service, air, hot water and steam, light oil, cryogenic, combustion, navy & marine and even nuclear operations. When success and failure depend on the performance of your valves, you need the best – you need ASCO.

Check out our most popular ASCO solenoid valves below:

General Service Solenoid Valves

The original Red Hats, ASCO general service solenoid valves have long lifespans and are highly adaptable, making them well-suited for most light applications that involve controlling air, water, light oil and other non-corrosive media.

Readily available in two-way, three-way and four-way configurations with sizes ranging from 1/8” to 3”.

Air Operated Solenoid Valves

Air operated valves incorporate a piston operator in place of a solenoid. Along with all the benefits of a general service ASCO solenoid valve, air operated valves are controlled by air separate from your system’s main line fluids, which allows for dependable operation of the valve independent of your fluid conveyance assembly.

ASCO air operated valves are available in two-way and three-way configurations with sizes ranging from ¼” to 1”.

Hot Water/Steam Solenoid Valves

ASCO’s hot water and steam solenoid valves are built with durable brass, heat-resistant Teflon seals and are designed to operate seamlessly in extreme high-temperature, high-pressure environments.

Available in multiple open and closed combination configurations, ASCO hot water and steam valves are stocked in sizes ranging from ¼” to 2”.

Cryogenic Solenoid Valves

Built with specialized materials to enable smooth operation in extremely frigid temperatures, ASCO cryogenic solenoid valves are the best valves on the market to control cryogenic fluids, including liquid oxygen, liquid argon, liquid nitrogen and liquid CO2.

Available now in two-way configuration from sizes 1/8” to 1/2”.

Combustion Solenoid Valves

Combustion valves are designed to safely control the flow of combustible gas and fuel oils pumped through your fluid conveyance system.

ASCO combustion valves come in two and three-way configurations and a variety of operational designs, including solenoid operated, cable operated, manual reset and electro-hydraulically operated. Now available in sizes 1/8” to 3”.

Intrinsically Safe Solenoid Valves

ASCO intrinsically safe solenoid valves are sturdy, adaptable and perfect for installation in non-incendive field wiring areas. With an increased environmental efficiency rating and compatible with a variety of electrical connections, ASCO intrinsically safe solenoid valves are the superior valve for low-power operations.

These valves are available with aluminum, brass or stainless-steel bodies in three way-or four-way configurations.
