Coiled Tubing
Coiled tubing is a long metal tube that is rolled over a large reel or drum that can be continuously withdrawn without a connecting thread. The coiled tubing is made of high-strength, low-alloy materials, which first is rolled straight seamlessly or then welded together.
Alloys available range from general instrumentation alloys like 304, 316 and 316L or high purity alloys like 316, 316L or VIM/VAR including specialty alloys like Monel and Hastelloy.
Coiled tubing is used mostly in oil and gas wells for drilling and well completion but is also used for other drilling operations, hydraulic fracturing, removing sand or fill from wellbore, and other applications that involve pumping fluids at high temperatures, pressures and salinity.
